MÖTLEY CRÜE's SIXX Biting Off More Than He Can Chew
May 20, 2003MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx told Contra Costa Times that he is launching his own clothing line adorned with designs of body art he's accumulated since age 17. N. Sixx by Dragonfly offers fans of the bad-boy rocker the chance to emulate his style without the pain or permanence of the real thing.
"Some of the shirts are just designs from my body," Sixx said. "You can take it off at the end of the night, unlike me."
Sixx, 44, is joining a growing cadre of musicians who are crossing over into the fashion industry with their own apparel. Now you can wear clothing that's not only endorsed by J.Lo, Eminem and P. Diddy, but was designed by them as well.
"It went out in test markets and sold out immediately," Sixx said. "People came back and said, 'Man, we need more designs.' So we made more designs — they sold out immediately. So then they came back and said, 'We need a full line.' And then they said they wanted a line of women's stuff. I was like, 'Oh, my God. Have I bitten off more than I can chew?'"
